What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA, is an additional layer of security for your account that is applied for all Rain accounts. Two-factor authentication requires you to insert a code that functions as an additional confirmation step. The code can be received via SMS or through mobile apps like Authy or Google Authenticator.

Two-factor authentication is automatically applied on your Rain account and will be required to complete certain transactions such as logins, withdrawals, send transactions and when you change your password. This way we ensure the complete security of your account and assets by adding an additional security step.

How to Set Up a Two-Factor Authentication App?

While Rain applies two-factor authentication automatically through SMS on certain transactions, we recommend using an authenticator app such as Authy or Google Authenticator for more robust security on your account. Here is how you can install and use an authenticator app:

  1. Go to Profile and click on Security

  2. Click on 2-Factor Authentication

  3. Click on Connect Authenticator App

  4. Choose the authenticator app you would like to download

  5. Scan the QR code or copy and paste the key to link your Rain account to the authenticator app

  6. Enter the code that you see on your authenticator app to confirm

Once you have successfully connected a two-factor authenticator app, you will no longer receive your code through SMS. Instead, you can start to use the code generated in the app to conduct transactions on Rain in a more secure manner.
