Our focus at Rain has always been security-first. We understand that security is a big concern when buying, selling, and storing cryptocurrency, so we implement bank-grade security, online and offline, to ensure our systems are robust and secure.
Cold storage is when cryptocurrency is taken off of the internet and stored on an offline computer, or with pen and paper, typically stored within a safety deposit box at a bank. The "private keys" to these wallets are split up (sharded) and stored in multiple safety deposit boxes at banks in different geographical locations. A hacker would need to physically access all safety deposit boxes, at different bank vaults, in different regions, to compromise funds.
98% of Rain's cryptocurrency is stored offline in cold-storage at all times, in a safety deposit box in a bank. What this means is that your funds are not on the internet, ensuring hackers have no way to access it.
All of your fiat funds are stored at our bank accounts, regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain.
For enhanced security on your personal account, please turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) on all-actions within your profile settings. More information on 2FA can be found here.
Rain goes through strict financial auditing on a quarterly basis.
Rain works with security experts and experiences security audits throughout the year, ensuring our offline and online policies and procedures are up to date, and being hard-checked consistently.
